Saturday 25 – open from 10am to 6pm, free tastings of some local Friulian wines made from rare and ancient grape varieties grown in the terraced vineyards of the winery, thanks to the hard work made by Emilio Bulfon in the 1970s in Western Friuli to prevent such grape varieties from disappearing

Exhibition “In the footsteps of the artist Pordenone”. To remember the 480 years since the death of the greatest artist of the Friulian Renaissance, Giovanni Antonio de’ Sacchis, known as “Il Pordenone” (Pordenone, 1483-84/Ferrara, 1539), an event that will be celebrated next Autumn with an important exhibition held in the town of Pordenone, the Bulfon winery will offer visitors the chance to enjoy an exhibition showing the presence of the artist and his works in the area of Pinzano al Tagliamento (PN). The vineyards are located in a hilly area, surrounded by the forest, between Valeriano and Pinzano al Tagliamento, not far from the Tagliamento river, the oldest Alpine river in Europe, as well as in Castelnovo del Friuli. The soils are rich in marl, clay and silt, from which marine fossils and pieces of Renaissance pots sometimes still emerge. The winery has 11 hectares planted to vine, all of them ancient and native from Friuli. For our winery it is crucial to protect those grape varieties, that is why we carefully and constantly work the soil with sustainable methods, we carefully prune the plants and harvest the grapes manually, and we focus on the ageing of our wines to have good quality products.

One of our missions is to welcome wine lovers and give them the chance to taste our wines in our winery and, if they wish, to see the vineyards and show them the beautiful landscape, as well as the rich historical and artistic heritage of the area. We also promote cultural and educational activities. Tourists and riders love these areas for the stunning landscape and the precious historical and artistic heritage. They can also visit the remains of the Savorgnan castles and an Austrian-German Memorial, walk along enchanting tracks surrounded by nature and admire the green water of the Tagliamento river from the Pinzano bridge, to enjoy the panoramic view from the Carnic Alps to the Friulian plain, similar to the Moon.
